Description

Falahatna ("Our Farming") is a free agricultural advisory app built for Moroccan farmers, designed Arabic-first (full RTL) with French support. It turns one technician's expertise into a structured, searchable guide: farmers browse advice by crop or by topic (soil preparation, irrigation, fertilization, harvest), identify diseases and pests through a photo-based catalog with symptoms, prevention and treatment for each, and get seasonal "what to do this month" guidance tied to a farming calendar. The app is offline-first — once content syncs, it stays readable without a connection, which matters for farmers in areas with unreliable network coverage.

Guests can browse the entire content library without creating an account. A free account unlocks the public Q&A feed, while a premium subscription unlocks a private one-on-one chat with the technician — sold as a self-serve in-app purchase through Google Play Billing, with the premium gate enforced server-side in Firestore security rules rather than trusted from the client. The app is built with Flutter and Riverpod for state management, go_router for guest-first navigation with role- and plan-based redirects, and Firebase (Authentication with email/password and Google Sign-In, and Firestore for data) for the backend. Media is served from Cloudinary instead of Firebase Storage to keep the project on Firebase's free tier. A companion Next.js admin dashboard is planned so the technician can manage crops, articles and pest entries without needing a developer.

As solo developer, I designed the Firestore data model and security rules, built the entire Flutter client from a spec I wrote together with the technician, configured the Firebase project and Google Play Billing integration, and handled every screen and interaction end to end — from onboarding and the home feed to the pest catalog and premium chat gate. This is my second build-in-public project, developed for free as a social-impact contribution and currently in active development ahead of its first Play Store release.
